Waterproofing: The Most Important Thing in Any Bathroom

Tile is not waterproof. Grout is not waterproof. What actually protects your home is the system installed behind and beneath the tile — and most contractors cut corners here.

Traditional Method

Common Approach

Mortar bed with a rubber pan liner. Designed as a water-in, water-out system — it assumes some moisture will get through. When the liner fails (and it eventually does), damage is hidden inside the wall until it is significant.

Schluter KERDI System

SpenceZeta Standard

A continuous waterproof membrane bonded directly to the substrate. No mortar bed, no liner to fail. The system does not allow water in — it stops it at the surface. Backed by Schluter’s limited lifetime warranty.

Plumbing

Shower valve replacement, freestanding tub rough-in, dual-head shower systems, bidet connections, and all fixture trim-out pulled under permit.

Electrical

GFCI outlets, vanity lighting, exhaust fan installation or upgrade, heated floor thermostat, and code-compliant circuit work permitted through your municipality.

Vanity & Cabinetry

Custom or semi-custom vanity installation, floating vanity backing systems, mirror and medicine cabinet installation, and hardware selection.

Fixtures & Final Finish

Faucet, shower hardware, towel bars, toilet, and all accessory trim-out. Paint and caulking to match your selections. Punch list before handover.
